Summary/Objective:
The CDL Driver is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of materials to customer job sites while upholding DOT regulations and company safety procedures. This role includes conducting thorough pre- and post-trip inspections of the delivery vehicle, maintaining accurate records, and acting as a courteous representative of the company at all times.
Duties/Responsibilities:
•Operates a commercial vehicle to deliver materials to customers, often assisting with unloading as needed.
•Conducts daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking tires, lights, brakes, fluids, and overall condition. Reports any issues immediately to supervisor.
•Adheres strictly to all DOT regulations and company safety protocols to promote a culture of safety and accountability.
•Plans efficient routes and schedules for timely deliveries and pick-ups.
•Maintains accurate logs of mileage, inspections, fuel, and delivery documentation.
•Ensures delivery tickets are signed and returned; communicates with customers if they are unavailable at delivery site.
•Fuels truck and monitor basic maintenance needs; escalates any larger mechanical concerns.
•Picks up returns or other items as scheduled.
•Assists in the warehouse or yard when delivery duties are completed.
•Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
•Valid Class A or B CDL with a clean driving record.
•Strong understanding of DOT driving regulations and safety practices.
•Ability to complete routine vehicle inspections and minor troubleshooting.
•Reliable and self-directed with strong time management and route planning skills.
•Excellent communication and customer service skills.
•Professional demeanor and safety-first mindset.
Education and Experience:
•HS Diploma or GED, strongly preferred.
•Specialized skills training/certification may be required.
•Generally, 3-5 years of experience in area of responsibility.
•Forklift certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
•Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
•Must be able to load and unload packages with and without dollies in various types of weather.
