We are currently seeking a CDL Driver to join our team! This position involves tractor trailer, roll-off container and lowboy/flatbed trailer work to transport a variety of scrap. We offer steady, year-round work with drivers home every night. All operations are based out of our Whitewater facility, with deliveries made to various locations within a 100-mile radius.
Qualifications:
•Valid CDL Class A License with Air Brake Endorsement
•Current DOT Medical Card (unless medically exempt)
•Clean or acceptable driving record with limited violations in the past 5 years
•Ability to pass and maintain required drug and alcohol testing
•Minimum of 5 years of commercial driving experience (tractor trailer and/or roll-off preferred)
•Must be at least 21 years of age
•Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and communicate clearly
•Experience operating roll-off containers and flatbeds preferred (but willing to train the right candidate)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Safely operate both tractor trailers and roll-off trucks to transport various loads over short distances.
•Maintain compliance with all state and federal transportation laws.
•Conduct routine inspections on equipment; report any issues to our in-house maintenance team.
•Hook and unhook trailers, secure loads, tarp and untarp as needed depending on load and equipment type.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Operate tractor trailers to transport scrap metal, equipment, and materials between customer sites, our Whitewater facility, and local drop-off locations.
•Operate roll-off container trucks, including dropping off, picking up, and dumping loaded containers at customer sites, industrial yards, and recycling facilities.
•Properly secure all loads according to DOT regulations, including the use of tarps, chains, straps, and binders as needed.
•Hook and unhook trailers, swap containers, and manually operate tarping systems and container locking mechanisms.
•Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safe operation; immediately report any maintenance concerns to the in-house maintenance team.
•Maintain accurate paperwork, including pickup and delivery logs, scale tickets, and daily vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs).
•Communicate professionally with dispatch, yard staff, customers, and other drivers to ensure efficient scheduling and safe site access.
•Follow all company safety policies and DOT requirements, including maintaining hours-of-service logs if necessary.
•Navigate a variety of site conditions including scrapyards, industrial lots, and customer properties, occasionally requiring backing into tight or congested spaces.
•Occasionally assist with loading or repositioning materials if needed (no heavy manual loading required – mechanical loading equipment is used).
•Maintain a clean and organized truck cab and assist with light cleaning or organizing tasks around the yard when needed between runs.
No weekend work required.
