High Country Industrial CDL - Class A
Main Role Posting Content:
The CDL Class A position is directly responsible for the safe and efficient operation of commercial motor vehicles to transport goods and material in compliance with all federal, state and local regulations. This role requires strict adherence to safety protocols, timely deliveries and effective communication. The Driver must conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensure cargo is properly secured and maintain accurate E-logs. The driver represents High Country Industrial professionally while providing excellent service to customers as well as maintaining the highest standards of road safety.Pay & Benefits: High Country Industrial is offering a starting competitive hourly wage $25-$30 depending on experience. Position Requirements
Education Requirements:
•High School Diploma or Equivalency such as GED.
•Driving experience and ability to meet paperwork requirements of DOT, Locally & Federally.
•Knowledge of DOT regulations for truckload hauling over the road.
•Ability to complete DOT logbooks with requirements for on/off duty time and resting requirements.
•Ability to learn and perform IFTA reporting requirements.
•Ability to understand when permits are needed and what other requirements exist for items such as, overweight or oversized loads.
Physical Requirements:
•Extended periods of time driving in a motor vehicle.
•Walking over uneven and unpaved surfaces for extended distances.
•Other ordinary physical demands as are commonly found in the trucking industry.
Mental Requirements:
•Must be fluent in English and be able to articulate directions and instructions to drivers.
•Ability to read, interpret, and understand DOT and permitting requirements.
•Must know paperwork requirements and safety regulations for all customer locations
•Certified forklift training/experience in unloading and loading of trailers
•Experience with proper load tie down and understanding of correct size, quantity, and type of tie downs or load fasteners on a load-to-load basis.
Working Conditions:
•The position will require outdoor work and therefore the driver will be exposed to hot, cold, dirty, dusty, wet, muddy, and other outdoor environmental conditions.
Essential Functions:
The position will have responsibility to maintain relationships with customers, and management of the loads and drivers including personnel scheduling, coordination of work with the customer, and all other aspects of safe and timely delivery of HCI loads.
Primary Responsibilities
The position will be responsible for the following in order to help HCI operate smoothly. These responsibilities may change from time to time as required by changing business conditions, company management structure, or other reasons that management deems appropriate.
•Operate vehicle safely within DOT regulations.
•Conduct all pre and post trip inspections of assigned equipment.
•Understand and carry out oral or written instructions, including those on freight bills, manifests and other shipping documents to determine the nature and amount of freight loaded.
•Use safe handling and lifting procedures to load and unload freight with the assistance of hand trucks, pallet jacks and any other available equipment to move, load, arrange and rearrange freight.
•Comprehend and comply with hazardous material handling, placard regulations and required emergency response to hazardous material spills or incidents.
•Any property destruction, damage to loads, accidents or safety incidents must be reported immediately to supervisor. This includes filling out an incident form and proceeding with an investigation following HCI policy
•Provide professional representation of the company when in contact with public safety, law enforcement officials and the general public.
•Assure compliance and adherence with HCI policies, including safety, professionalism and quality.
•Work as a team to coordinate workflow to accomplish daily goals and objectives.
•Ensure that daily work status, concerns and issues are communicated directly to the appropriate person and role.
•Maintain, communicate, and improve work process flows with team members to strive for safety improvements, zero quality issues, and cycle time reduction.
Duties and Tasks
General
•Maintain driver qualification files according to Federal DOT requirements.
•Driver must always have current Commercial Driver’s License and Medical Card on them while employed by HCI.
•Must submit to random and Annual Federal Clearing House Driver Quarries.
•Driver must submit to pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and any other type of drug and alcohol testing that is required by State and Federal DOT laws and agree to be a part of the HCI Alcohol and Drug Testing Program.
•All accidents or safety incidents must be reported immediately following the proper incident reporting and investigation policy of HCI.
•Must have knowledge or receive working knowledge of company insurance policy and what is covered/what isn’t and the limits of the policy.
•Demonstrating good judgment and decision-making.
•Informing Management about problems and potential problems as early as possible.
•Respecting the confidentiality of HCI, customer and personnel information.
•Maintaining cooperative working relationships with Management and other staff members.
•Demonstrating ability to tactfully handle difficult situations.
•Performing all duties in an independent manner with little supervision.
•Recognizing and performing duties which need to be performed, although not directly assigned, and assisting others as needed.
•Always providing proper notification and advance notice of absence.
•Reporting to work on time each day, after lunch breaks, etc., and not leaving early.
•Assuming responsibility for staying aware of changes in company policies and procedures.
•Performing other duties and tasks assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
•Maintain the knowledge of DOT rules for interstate & 2 lane highways as it pertains to holiday schedules, construction, new rules, or permits for a particular load. Coordinate work schedules and timelines with customers.
•Assure that all signatures required for work performed are obtained in a timely manner and submitted to the office for invoicing.
