Position Summary:
The Category Manager plays a key role in managing procurement activities, optimizing supplier relationships, managing Direct contracts and supporting broader supply chain functions. This role is responsible for category strategy execution, sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations, and ensuring supply chain efficiency. Working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, the Category Manager drives cost savings, supplier performance, and process improvements within the procurement and supply chain landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
Category Management
•Assist in developing and executing category strategies that align with business goals.
•Analyze market trends, supplier landscapes, and cost drivers to optimize category performance.
•Conduct spend analysis to identify cost-saving and value-improvement opportunities.
•Develop and maintain category performance metrics, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
•Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand demand planning and category requirements.
•Manage Direct Contracts for assigned Business unit
•Create Cheat Sheets for Direct Contracts
•Review Cheat Sheets and Risk Assessments in Project kickoff meeting
Sourcing & Procurement Support
•Support sourcing initiatives, including RFx (Request for Proposal, Request for Quote, etc.) processes.
•Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and service agreements with suppliers to drive cost savings.
•Evaluate supplier proposals and recommend award decisions based on total cost of ownership.
•Manage supplier onboarding, ensuring compliance with company policies and standards.
•Monitor key supplier contracts and agreements to ensure adherence to terms and conditions.
•Supplier Relationship Management
•Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to drive performance and innovation.
•Conduct supplier performance reviews and work with vendors to address issues and improve service levels.
•Support risk management initiatives by identifying and mitigating supply chain risks.
•Ensure suppliers comply with quality, sustainability, and ethical sourcing standards.
Supply Chain Support & Optimization
•Collaborate with logistics, operations, and planning teams to ensure efficient supply chain flow.
•Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in procurement and sourcing processes.
•Assist in implementing process improvements and automation tools to enhance procurement efficiency.
•Support demand planning efforts to align supplier capabilities with business needs.
Data Analysis & Reporting
•Track and analyze key procurement and category management metrics.
•Generate reports on cost savings, supplier performance, and market trends for leadership review.
•Utilize data analytics to support decision-making in sourcing and supply chain management.
•Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation within ERP or procurement systems.
Education & Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Procurement, or a related field.
•7-10 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or category management.
•Experience with ERP and procurement systems (SAP, Oracle, Ariba, etc.) preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
•Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
•Analytical mindset with experience in spend analysis and market research.
•Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments.
•Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data visualization tools.
•Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
Qualifications:
•Willing to travel if needed (limited)
•Very customer-service oriented, including treating fellow GIS team members with an internal client mindset.
•Subject Matter Expert to Assigned Business unit.
Physical Requirements:
This job operates in a professional office setting. The role may require occasional travel.
This role requires the ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
