Roles and Responsibilities:
•Assist the Tug Captain with vessel operations, including towing, mooring, and barge/vessel positioning.
•Operate the speedboat safely to support crew transfers, personnel transportation, and shore-side logistics.
•Maintain radio or communication link between tug and onshore teams.
•Support navigation duties, line handling, lookout, and anchoring as directed by the Captain.
•Perform daily checks and basic maintenance of tug and speed boat equipment.
•Ensure both vessels remain clean, safe, and operationally ready.
•Participate in emergency drills and respond to incidents such as fire, man-overboard, and rescue scenarios.
•Adhere to STCW safety protocols and Guyana Port Inc. marine safety standards.
•Complete and maintain accurate operational logs and vessel reports.
•Ensure compliance with environmental policies, including proper fuel handling and waste disposal.
•Execute any additional duties assigned that fall within the scope of marine operations.
Requirements:
•Basic Safety Training (BST) under the STCW Convention.
•BM3 (Boat Master Grade 3) License from the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD), Guyana.
•First Aid and CPR certification (preferred).
•Minimum 2 years’ experience in marine operations, especially on tugs or small crafts.
•Skilled in small boat manoeuvring under diverse sea and weather conditions.
•Strong knowledge of local maritime routes, navigation practices, and safety regulations.
•Team-oriented with excellent communication and coordination skills.
•Able to perform effectively under pressure and in emergencies.
•Physically fit and adaptable to working at sea.
