Position overview:
The Buyer – Planner for the Large Press Department plays a key role in ensuring the availability of raw materials to support production schedules. This position involves sourcing, ordering, and managing inventory from suppliers to maintain an efficient supply chain. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of balancing cost control with timely procurement.
This individual will work closely with suppliers, internal departments, and the Large Press Department Manager to meet production goals and avoid material shortages.
Key Responsibilities
•Purchasing & Planning: Procure raw materials based on production schedules and inventory needs. Use MRP systems to plan and track material requirements.
•Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels and coordinate timely replenishment. Support efforts to minimize shortages and excess inventory.
•Supplier Coordination: Communicate with suppliers to confirm orders and resolve issues. Maintain vendor relationships to ensure quality, pricing, and timely delivery.
•Data & Reporting: Maintain accurate purchase records and system updates. Generate basic reports to support department planning.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in purchasing, logistics, or manufacturing.
•Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
•Working knowledge of MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
•A positive attitude that supports safety, cleanliness, and teamwork.
•Ability to perform these job qualifications will be demonstrated through satisfactory job performance during the 90-day probationary period.
