Blaster

Location: Pinto Valley Mine, Miami, AZ

Position: Prepare and detonate planned explosive related blasts with correct products, measured quantities, safe application, and effective use of explosives in alignment with Service Operations Manual to meet customer's requirements at locations serviced by WESCO. Lead blast crew and provide on-the-job training.

Experience: 1-2 years of experience as a blaster. Experience preferred but not required.

Technical Requirements:

-Knowledge of the Dyno Nobel electronic initiation system, but not required. Will provide on-the-job training

-Maintain current blasting licenses along with any certifications required by federal, state and county entities

-Must satisfy the requirements for a “possessor of explosives” as defined by the B.A.T.F.

Essential Functions:

-Practices behavior consistent with company policies and procedures from applicable technical modules, all company SOP, work site, regulatory and safety policies, and procedures.

-Thorough knowledge of products, product applications, blasting practices, and miningquarryconstruction principles.

-General knowledge and understanding explosives technology, basic geology, and seismology.

-Design the appropriate use of explosives to properly fit the customers.

-Able to manage any unusual blasting scenarios

-Responsible for the day-to-day management of blasting crew, all inventory records, and other appropriate documentation required at site.

-Ability to step into manager role as required.

-Lead blast crew while providing on-the-job training.

-Investigate all product complaints and poor performing blasts and report these to management and the Technical Service Resource.

-Safety focus at all times. Report potentially unsafe conditions. Use equipment and materials properly.

-Develop professional relationships with customers. Participate in customer safety processes.

-Understand and enhance service requirements to continually improve customer profitability.

Working Environment:

Must be able to work primarily outdoors in all weather conditions of temperature and climate. Must wear personal protective equipment where required. May require lifting of up to 60 lbs.

Schedule: Monday – Thursday (Occasional Friday), 4 am – 2 pm

Pay: $28-30, depends on experience
