The Benefits Specialist will provide daily administration of CB&I's domestic and international welfare programs. This role ensures that the programs are administered in compliance with plan documents, regulatory requirements, internal processes, and company policies.
This role is also responsible for supporting employees with benefits inquiries, issues, and concerns. This encompasses health and wellness, enrollment in programs, retirement plans, and voluntary benefits. Additionally, the role includes resolving claims, supporting eligibility questions, and participating in ongoing projects aimed at enhancing CB&I's benefits offerings.
The Benefits Specialist is an individual contributor role. The role directly reports to the Director of Total Rewards and routinely interacts with the Human Resources Team, Employees, and External Vendors.
- Performs benefit administration to include new hire enrollment, termination of employment, annual open enrollment, claims resolution, change reporting, and COBRA administration.
- Ensures timely enrollment, changes, and terminations of benefits for employees.
- Collaborate with other members of the HR Team, regarding employee communications, execution of benefit changes, and new and innovative suggestions to promote employee mental, physical, and emotional health.
- Audits weekly benefit deductions and updates payroll system as necessary.
- Oversee the administration of the 401(k) plan, including auto-enrollment processes, compliance with IRS regulations, and employee education.
- Ensure new hires are automatically enrolled in the 401(k) upon meeting eligibility requirements.
- Assist employees with contribution changes, rollovers, and withdrawals while ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Ensure weekly 401k contributions are reported and submitted timely.
- Assists employees with HSA enrollment and necessary updates throughout plan year.
- Responsible for annual ACA reporting and processing.
- Partner with supervisor on escalated employee issues and requests as needed.
- Maintain an awareness of compliance with all state and federal regulations such as COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA.

- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or equivalent degree and/or years of experience
- 2+ years’ experience in benefits administration- Knowledge of federal and state benefits regulations, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, Section 125, and other applicable laws and regulations.
- Experience with HR systems, preferably Peoplesoft, and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
- Bilingual (Spanish - English) preferred, but not required.
