Position Summary
The Auxiliary Plant Operator (APO) shall be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all areas of the facility while adhering to company policies and procedures, applicable state and federal guidelines and other regulatory requirements. Responsible for performing equipment operations and record keeping duties on systems, such as, gas and steam turbines, heat recovery steam generator, boilers, auxiliaries, fuel and pollution systems, and water treatment systems within established procedures.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
•Monitor the operation of major plant equipment and systems and take appropriate action to ensure they are operated safely, in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
•Ensure continuous operation of combined cycle systems as directed by the Lead Plant Operator (LPO) with a demonstrated understanding of all aspects of power plant operations.
•Write operating procedures, work requests, purchase requisitions, and daily reports on plant operating conditions including equipment readings, inspections and testing. Maintain a log of significant operating activities and events.
•Take measurement and readings, input into computerized applications, and compare with standards. Implement appropriate corrective actions within established procedures and promptly communicate these actions accurately to the Lead Plant Operator (LPO).
•Maintain and monitor the boiler and cooling water chemistry for the site.
•Maintain assigned systems to ensure proper operation and perform routine equipment safety checks and inspections.
•Troubleshoot and provide solutions to equipment malfunctions in a timely fashion.
•Comply fully with all Company policies, the Employee Handbook, the Company EHS and NERC Compliance Programs and government regulations and procedures.
•Operate and monitor plant equipment via Human Machine Interfaces and Historian applications (OSI PI).
•Complete assigned performance qualifications and training in a timely manner.
•Monitor and direct Contractor activities as required.
•Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and LOTO systems as necessary.
•Inspect and monitor environmental equipment and make appropriate notifications.
•Maintain all training requirements as needed.
•Actively participate in safety committee meetings and activities as assigned.
•Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work area including tasks not limited to snow removal, salting/sanding, sweeping, dusting, cleaning, and operating power industrial trucks and aerial lifts.
•Perform other duties as assigned.

Working at the power plant may require:
•Working in varied outdoor environments such as all-weather conditions, all noise levels, hazardous conditions, and on a full range of outdoor work surfaces sometimes at elevated heights.
•The frequent use of protective equipment (i.e. hard hats, safety glasses, air purifying respirator, hearing protection, chemical suits, hot gloves and high voltage protective equipment, etc.) may be required. Work with hazardous materials may also be required.
•Working in proximity to high voltage and current with proper training and equipment, operating heavy equipment and rolling stock and entering confined spaces or hazardous environments may be required while often being exposed to equipment and machinery noises.
•Duties require walking, standing for extended periods of time, crawling, stooping, sitting, climbing vertical and inclined ladders and stairs, operation of large valves and other tasks requiring up to 100 lbs. of pulling or turning force, and lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Exposure to extreme heat and cold.
•Eye and hand coordination are required to operate switches, pushbuttons, and other controls.
•Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
•All candidates will participate in the post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
•This position requires extended working hours and varied shifts including weekend and holiday work. The ability to be “on call” may also be required periodically.

Required Background and Experience
•Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
•Minimum of 2 years of experience in power generation preferable natural gas fired combined cycle Plant.
•Minimum of a High School Diploma and minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
