Key Project Requirements•Prior experience operating in a coal-fired power plant, with strong knowledge of coal yard systems, FGD, and bottom ash handling.
•Hands-on experience with coal pulverizing equipment and non-power block system operations.
•Experienced in performing field walkdowns, monitoring equipment status, and communicating plant conditions to the control room
Job Summary
NAES is seeking Auxiliary Operators to support daily field operations at a coal-fired power plant in Utah. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Aux Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring coal yard and non-power block systems, including FGD, ash handling, and coal pulverizing equipment. This role plays a key part in maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations through routine inspections, equipment adjustments, and coordination with control room personnel.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities•Operate and maintain coal yard systems, including FGD, bottom ash, and coal pulverizing equipment.
•Perform routine outside rounds, monitor valves, and make necessary adjustments for safe and efficient operation.
•Rotate equipment in and out of service based on operating needs or supervisor direction.
•Report equipment issues and initiate maintenance work orders.
•Ensure safe equipment operation and uphold safety standards at all times.
Job Requirements
•Must be able to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
•Experience operating FGD systems, bottom ash equipment, and coal pulverizers.
•Strong ability to read and interpret plant drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
•Skilled in troubleshooting and improving operating procedures and documentation.
•Effective communicator with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
•Position Must be able to stand, walk, climb ladders and stairs, work at heights (up to 75 feet), enter confined spaces, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
•Must be able to wear a respirator and all required PPE
Education / Experience
•High School diploma or GED required.
•7+ years’ experience as a Coal Plant Operator, Material Handler or equivalent position in an operating coal plant.
•Advance consideration will be given to applicants with FGD systems experience.
