Under general supervision, the Associate Engineer will perform work in Engineering Planning on a dynamic team that studies, plans, and implements improvements on the distribution and transmission systems to provide safe and reliable power to our customers. The 1H Associate Engineer will participate in short and long term load forecasting and contingency analysis to identify any system needs. Develop solutions for these needs, such as new substations, transmission projects, distribution improvements, and Non-Wire Alternatives (NWA), including solar PV, batteries and targeted demand reduction. Provides support on projects such as the Climate Leadership Community Protection Act (CLCPA), Coordinated Grid Planning Process (CGPP), Distribution System Implementation Plan (DSIP), and Long Range Plan (LRP). Attends industry conferences, utility working groups, and stakeholder meetings and serves on technical committees as required. The Associate Engineer position will report to the Section Manager of Planning and supports the work of Senior Engineers and Engineers in the Planning group.
- With some general guidance /limited supervision, will conduct forecasting and contingency analysis as part of the annual load forecasting, contingency studies and NWA analysis.
- With some general guidance /limited supervision, will identify projects for the electric delivery system ten-year capital infrastructure requirements for the Engineering and Electric Operations capital budgets.
- With some general guidance /limited supervision, will conceptually design and support the T&D capital budget system improvement projects including the development of project white papers, cost/benefit analyses and project justifications for these projects.
- With some general guidance /limited supervision, will provide Distribution load flow program utilization and support, including area studies, modeling and analysis, circuit voltage profiles and contingency switching analysis, loss studies, distribution circuit reconfigurations, and system administration on an as needed basis.
