Description
This position is in addition to normal substation design engineering duties. This position is responsible for the managerial direction and leadership of interns, designers, and assistant/staff engineers within the Substation Department of the T&D Global Practice in the Upper Midwest Region. Specific areas of responsibility include the following, with other duties as assigned by substation department management and senior management:
•Advocating for safety within the department.
•Actively foster a culture based on our MacCulture principles, quality, diversity and inclusion, and team cohesion and camaraderie.
•Recruiting, developing, training, and retaining interns and engineers.
•Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
•Coordinating team and mentor assignments of engineers with the substation department manager, project managers and project engineers for the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.
•Reviewing employee performance and conducting development meetings (90 day and annual performance appraisals, mid-year reviews, coaching sessions, performance improvement, etc.).
•Identifying training needs for engineers and support/develop training programs for the department. Collaborating with other departments on shared training.
•Assist with the development of new clients and maintenance of existing clients.
•Assist with developing and reviewing proposals.
•Responsible for fostering a healthy and vibrant employee-owner culture within the team through the leverage of sound team-building practices, the promotion and administration of effective conflict resolution, the promotion of ownership mentality, a healthy work-life balance, and community engagement.
•Assisting the Substation Department Management team to develop business initiatives to improve profitability and/or efficiencies.
•Providing input into areas of concern and direction to enhance achievement of productivity goals, budgets, and quality.
•Interpreting policies, purposes, and goals of the organization to staff.
•Approving timecards and ensuring billable time goals are met.
Qualifications
•Bachelor's Degree in engineering, architecture, environmental science, construction management or related field from an accredited program
•5 years related professional experience
•Demonstrated excellent written & verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Strong preference for the following:
•Burns & McDonnell recruiting experience.
•Ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients
•Experience giving and receiving performance feedback for those they work with.
•Familiarity with tools/technology such as Pivot Tables, Data Models, Office 365 apps, and other efficiency/data tracking tools.
•Ability to influence, lead, and manage change thoughtfully and positively.
•Professional Engineering license.
•History of high performance as demonstrated and documented in the Burns & McDonnell performance management system.
Compensation
$110,000.00-370,000.00 Yearly
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
