The Assistant Controller is responsible for overseeing all Accounting and Finance functions of the organization and for the establishment and monitoring of strong internal controls. Direct responsibility for managing all components of the Accounting organization, including Fuel and Lubricant Billing, Accounts Receivables, Credit and Collections, Accounts Payable, Taxes, and Inventory. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, the highest ethical standards, the ability to manage a team, and strong technical ability.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
•Direct and manage all components of the Accounting department, including Billing, A/P, A/R, Credit and Collections, Taxes, and Inventory.
•Manage accounting team daily, processing payroll approvals, time off requests, and all tasks maintained within ADP/HRIS system.
•Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. Design and distribute management reports and communicate results as well as opportunities and issues with ownership and other relevant management.
•Develop and Implement a system of strong internal controls, both within the Accounting department and across the organization.
•Gain a thorough understanding of the organization’s inventory and related hedge positions, ensuring they are accounted for appropriately.
•Build organizational efficiencies and process improvements into the department.
•Conduct performance evaluations and support the ongoing learning and professional growth of direct reports.
•Understand fully and manage the proper use of the Company’s financial system and associated software programs.
•Will provide support and assistance on other projects, and collaborations as needed
Knowledge, Education and Skills Requirements:
•BS in Accounting or Finance
•Minimum of 3 years in a similar accounting position
•2+ years of supervisory / managerial experience
•Established computer skills in MS office required
•Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
•Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
•Well-organized with ability to prioritize and multitask
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•Strong Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
•Knowledge of Avalara tax software a plus
•Knowledge of motor fuel tax and sales tax returns a plus

•Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer including keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
Supervisory Responsibility
Oversee the Accounting Department including evaluating performance and completing performance reviews.
