The Area Team Leader is integral to supporting, coaching, and developing fellow team members in their assigned area. Working closely with the Operations Lead and Manager, the Area Team Leader ensures that workflow is maintained in accordance with daily schedules and weekly targets to meet business needs. The Area Team Leader facilitates cross-functional support and ensures high-quality, on-time delivery of products. The Area Team Leader is a role model for safety, quality, efficiency, and good communication in their area. The Area Team Leader provides timely and respectful feedback, manages conflict, identifies opportunities for development, and champions excellence and employee engagement.
- Act as a leader and coach for their designated area, and beyond.
- Coordinate with Operations Lead/Manager on daily, weekly and monthly staffing needs.
- Driving team KPI’s and communicating results with management.
- Communication with customers and suppliers as needed.
- Acting as a main contact for the maintenance team by participating in TPM meetings and raising concerns on potential machine/maintenance issues.
- Coordinating with maintenance on repairs, regular maintenance and preventative maintenance
- Ensure proper safety protocols, use of equipment, and appropriate PPE for the area are updated and adhered to by all team members.
- Collaborate with the team to plan and determine scheduling to meet on-time delivery, including shift schedules, vacation planning, and overtime support needed.
- Upkeep designated area to 6S standards and seek areas of continuous improvement, including the inspection and calibration of tools/gauges, MRB, scrap, and non-conformance processes.
- Act as the main contact to facilitate developing, identifying and implementing standard operating processes through accurate work instructions and ensuring that changes are tracked and approved by internal stakeholders to meet Safety, Quality, and ISO requirements and other applicable standards.
- Facilitate learning and development opportunities in their area to foster a cross functional learning environment.
- Foster an environment of respect, positivity, and comradery by promoting teamwork to meet common business objectives.
- Provide non-biased performance evaluation and management of team members on an ongoing basis.
- Participation in regular employee performance reviews and ongoing feedback model.
- Participate in dedicated Team Leader meetings, trainings, and workshops, as needed.
- Past probationary period for internal candidates.
- Has not been on a coaching plan in the last 6 months for internal candidates.
- Previous personnel management experience is an asset.
- Proven track record of professional and respectful leadership.
- Able to work multiple shifts in support of operations: days, afternoons, weekends, and overnight, as required.
- High digital aptitude.
- Team player who is accountable for the team’s success in achieving business targets.
- High level of responsibility and professionalism.
- Ability to hold team members accountable and performance manage when appropriate.
- Strong and competent coach who can engage fellow employees through positive feedback and recognition and by identifying and enabling development and professional growth.
- Open to ideas and a creative problem solver who values and encourages the ideas of others.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to give and receive timely and respectful feedback.
- Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and provide efficient solutions.
- Willingness to learn new skills and perform a variety of tasks and roles within the manufacturing process and teach and coach other team members.
