Archaeological Field Technician

Position Summary: Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking a part-time Archaeological Field Technician to assist with Phase I through Phase III archaeological investigations. A Bachelor’s degree in anthropology or a related field and prior experience in all phases of archaeological investigation are required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Texas and Southeastern United States. Successful applicants will be considered for anticipated long-term projects in the region.This position is not eligible for employer-based sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification.

Lodging (individual hotel room) and per diem will be provided. Drive time to and from the project area will also be compensated. Rate based on experience, and number of hours per week will be based on project workload.

Compensation is $22.00 - $26.00/hour, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field 95% of the time. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.

Work is performed within a general office environment 5% of the time. Office work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
