Job Description
The Application Support Engineer’s primary responsibility is ensuring technical knowledge of products and providing support for multiple departments across the company in support of the company’s mission and vision. They will work closely with other disciplines to understand complex mechanical and electrical systems, identify complications, and thoroughly research potential solutions. They will assist engineering design teams in refining Mesa products to optimize their functionality, safety, and reliability. Additional responsibilities include product and project design assistance, product application and integration expertise.
Essential Duties
• Advise and review, and work along side application support engineer I’s
• Become technical expert on existing and new Mesa technology & systems such as:
• Internal combustion engines
• Power distribution Gear
• Telemetry systems & integration
• Site design & Commissioning
• Customer load integration
• Complex mechanical systems
• Complex electrical systems
• Profficienctly operate products, controls systems, and testing equipment as necessary.
• Review and provide constructive feedback for new product development projects.
• Relay field conditions to engineering department to correct specific design parameters or deficiencies.
• Review products for reliability, servicabliltiy, maintainability.
• Build, facilitate, and assist in company & customer training programs.
• Cross-train technitians (site commissioning team) on emerging technology and capabilities.
• Liason between customer and field technicians when there are advanced technical requirements.
• Lead / Complete reliability projects as directed.
• Identify trends and conduct detailed failure analysis of new and existing product lines.
• Review and develop professional technical design and procedural documentation and schematics.
• Travel as required for field site visits, technical support.
• Primary support of remote troubleshooting of sites & equipment.
• Lead and coordinate alternative componet field trail testing projects.
• Lead engineering projects in support of engineering change requests.
• Build test plans and procedures in accordinace with testing standards and requirements.
• Lead testing projects following standard procedures and protocols that are in place.
• Review and formulation of test data for analysis.
• Can create professional reports for data review and test findings.
• Troubleshoot project installation obstacles with technicians, engineering, as well as customers.
• Manage relationships across multiple departments inside and outside of engineering.
• Performs all duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Required
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering from accredited four-year university.
Experience
Required:
• 3-5 years of professional experience or equivalent.
• Knowledge of and basic understanding of internal combustion engines.
• Advanced troubleshooting of electrical systems.
• Data analysis experience using Excel or equivalent analysis software for root cause analysis.
• Field & Bench Testing development & experience.
Preferred
• Multi-disciplinary RCA (Root Cause Analysis) / troubleshooting experience.
• PLC systems and programming.
• Knowledge of and understanding of Genset Controller products.
• Low voltage control & automation experience.
• Power systems design concepts and operation.
• Experience with SCADA systems.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
• Must be able to possess and maintain a valid United States passport.

Working Conditions
• Safety hazards; General shop / field work in industrial spaces requireing PPE.
• Enviromental Hazards: General shop and field work in hot & cold remote outdoor conditions.
• Travel is anticipated up to 25%.
Equipment & Software
• Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
• Familiarity with design software’s such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, eDrawings, SolidWorks PDM or equivalent solid model and assembly model software and file management systems.
Additional Job Requirements
• Willing to consent to and pass a background check and drug screening.
• Will be required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends as required.
• Customer focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion.
• Ability to obtain PEC & H2S training.
