Oxy’s Summer Intern Program runs from May to August for a full 12 weeks. As an Oxy intern, you will have the opportunity to experience real-life projects with hands-on participation in Oxy’s core businesses. Your summer project will be designed to add value to our operations while providing an opportunity to observe your skills and competencies in action. Oxy interns are paired with a manager and mentor in order to provide technical guidance throughout the project timeline. Required Qualifications

- Good foundation in large language models (LLMs) and natural language processing (NLP), with practical experience applying these concepts in projects or research.

- Strong proficiency in Python, with hands-on experience using Git and version control systems.

- Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering or a related field.

- Must have a graduation date of December 2026 – May 2028

- Must maintain a minimum cumulative 2.85 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

- Desire to pursue a career as an AI Language Modeling Engineer in the Oil and Gas Industry

Preferred Qualifications

- Projects or research in NLP or LLMs that can be demonstrated through GitHub repositories, coursework, or a portfolio.

- Exposure to modern NLP/LLM frameworks and libraries such as LangChain, LangGraph, Hugging Face Transformers, and vector databases for applied AI development.

- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS (EC2, S3, SageMaker, etc.) through coursework, research, or projects.

- Strong communication skills for collaborating with teams and presenting technical results.
