The Aerospace Freight Forwarding Agent will be the liaison between assigned customers and BWS. Our main source of customers are aviation companies and vendors to the airlines. The Agent will handle all customer requirements from beginning to end of the shipment process and work in close cooperation with the operations team across departments (Air, Ocean, and Warehouse) for both imports and exports.
Please note that this role is based in Los Angeles, California, with support in Miami, Florida. Key Responsibilities And Tasks
- Handle day-to-day aerospace freight forwarding activities for import and export shipments.
- Obtain shipment details (weight, dimensions, commodity, destination, origin, and hazardous vs. general cargo).
- Provide quick turnaround for client requests, frequent follow-up, and timely updates.
- Manage time-critical AOG (Aircraft on Ground) shipments to ensure proper preparation and on-time delivery.
- Ensure units (e.g., aircraft engines, APUs, TRs, Inlet Cowls, engine stands) are properly secured and documented.
- Create operational files and request bookings with operational departments in a timely manner.
- Obtain competitive rates to ensure profitability.
- Prepare documentation to meet airline, shipping line, and destination requirements.
- Offer cargo insurance and arrange pick-up/delivery as needed.
- Coordinate special services for time-critical shipments.
- Communicate effectively with warehouses, agents, and customers to ensure smooth operations.
- Send pre-alerts to customers and agents.
- Follow up on shipments until arrival at final destination.
- Bill files within 5 days of departure and ensure proper file closure.
- Ensure customers have completed credit applications and POAs on file.
- Provide customers with accurate information on all rates involved in cargo handling.
- Maintain a professional atmosphere and build trust with customers, colleagues, and business partners.- 2+ years of freight forwarding experience (import/export required; aerospace preferred).
- Knowledge of international and domestic multimodal transportation (air, ocean, and ground).
- Familiarity with dangerous goods regulations and packaging requirements.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time-sensitive shipments.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with solid problem-solving abilities.
- Spanish language skills preferred.
