Marathon Petroleum Co. is seeking an Occupational Health Registered Nurse to administer, organize, coordinate and provide occupational health services to employees. This is done within the boundaries of the State Nurse Practice Act and Company policies, guidelines and protocols.
This position will be providing services to Marathon Petroleum employees located in Anacortes, WA.
- Provides evaluation of illnesses/injuries, development of a treatment plan, and coordination of care for employees and contractors, as allowed by the Registered Nurse’s scope of practice. Conduct follow-up evaluations and treatment for minor illnesses/injuries.
- Develops and maintains relationships with the workforce at large to foster trust and encourage reporting of minor injuries.
- Provides health consultation, first aid, immunizations, and appropriate referrals for non-occupational concerns.
- Assists in all aspects of patient care including illness/injury evaluation, case management, completion of OSHA mandated medical surveillance exams, drug and alcohol specimen collections, and blood specimen collections.
- Case management for non-occupational illnesses/injuries including case management during the leave, communication/collaboration with the business, and determining appropriate and safe return to work conditions
- Provides onsite training/education on health-related topics including CPR, first aid, and AEDs. Coordinates onsite Wellness campaigns, which may include presentations, and onsite annual influenza clinics.
- Provides medical response, guidance, and consultation to incidents including afterhours call and provides staffing support/afterhours coverage for scheduled projects and unplanned outages.
- Maintains medical and surveillance records as required by the company and/or regulatory agencies, including documentation in the Electronic Medical Record
- Maintains an understanding of current health regulations, OSHA exam requirements, and treatment guidelines for common exposures. Maintain Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance while promoting a professional, customer focused, and collaborative environment.
- Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is professional, attentive, cooperative, sensitive, respectful, and compassionate when dealing with patients, visitors, colleagues, and the public.
- Maintains appropriate licensure, certifications, and continuing education
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Minimum of Associate’s degree or equivalent required.
- Must be a licensed RN in the state where the position is located
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse. 2+ years’ experience in Occupational Health desired- Certifications in First Aid, CPR/AED, CAOHC, Drug Collections and Breath Alcohol Testing, Spirometry desired
- Familiar with state and federal requirements related to practice including OSHA, DOT, ADA, HIPAA, FMLA, and Workers’ Compensation desired
- Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN/COHN-S) or working towards certification is highly desired
- Able to prioritize, multi-task, and be flexible
- Strong problem solving and analytical skill
- Effective communication and interaction with employees, patients, providers, and other colleagues
- Ability to use tact and diplomacy appropriate to the situation
- Ability to maintain effective work relationships with all levels of colleagues
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- This position belongs to a job progression with increasing responsibility, competency and skill level. Final position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.
