Position Overview
Beitzel Corporation is currently seeking full-time, experienced Advanced Heavy Equipment Operators to join our Civil Services team. This hands-on role is ideal for individuals with a strong work ethic who take pride in operating heavy machinery safely and efficiently in demanding field environments. Candidates must have proven ability in the safe operation of dozers, excavators, front-end loaders, and articulating rock trucks. The position involves working on a wide range of industrial and construction projects, including but not limited to those in the construction, oil and gas, manufacturing, power generation, solar and wind energy, and aggregate industries.
This role requires extensive overnight and out-of-town travel, and operators must be prepared to work away from home for extended periods. A flexible schedule is essential, as shifts may include long hours, weekends, holidays, and occasional night work, depending on project needs. As part of a field crew, the Heavy Equipment Operator will assist with site preparation, excavation, trenching, grading, and other civil construction activities under the direction of a Foreman or Supervisor. Operators are expected to maintain a strong focus on safety, equipment maintenance, and teamwork, while delivering high-quality results that meet Beitzel Corporations standards.
What You'll Do
- Perform job duties such as moving and unloading trucks, operating heavy machinery (excavator, dozer, etc.), cleaning equipment, general and skilled labor, and other duties as needed
- Responsible for safe slopes on excavations and proper barricading
- Locate utilities and other buried lines prior to digging
- Knowledge of trenching and shoring standards
- Inspects and maintains equipment as required
- Performs miscellaneous other duties and responsibilities as required
- Sit, talk, hear, read, and write
- Regularly walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
- Must be able to kneel, stoop, bend, squat, and climb a ladder
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to work at heights
- Must be able to work in confined spaces
- Works indoors and outdoors in all types of weather
- Perform duties on-site at industrial locations to include uneven terrain
- 3-5 years of civil experience operating the following pieces of equipment: dozer, excavator, front-end loader
- Proficiency with fine grading preferred
- Experience operating machinery with GPS systems required
- Previous experience working with utilities
- Previous experience in mass excavation and grading preferred
- Previous experience in the installation of SWPP controls preferred
