We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Accounting & Payroll Associate to join our team. This role is responsible for processing employee payroll and contractor payments, as well as assisting with key accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience, solid QuickBooks & Excel skills, and experience with ADP (considered an asset).Key Responsibilities:
•Process accurate and timely biweekly payroll for employees in compliance with Canadian regulations.
•Ensure all payroll-related transactions, including statutory deductions, benefits, and vacation accruals, are correctly recorded.
•Generate Records of Employment (ROEs) and year-end tax forms (e.g., T4s).
•Address employee inquiries related to payroll.
•Prepare and process monthly payments for contractors and independent workers, ensuring compliance with relevant tax and remittance rules.
•Maintain up-to-date records for contractor invoices and agreements.
•Assist with general accounting functions, including accounts payable, reconciliations, and expense tracking.
•Help with month-end closing activities and reporting.
•Support the preparation of financial reports and documentation as needed.
•Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and payroll information.
•Assist with payroll and accounting audits, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial requirements.
•Generate and review payroll and accounting reports to identify discrepancies.
Qualifications:
•At least 3 years of payroll and accounting experience, with demonstrated knowledge of Canadian payroll standards.
•Experience processing payroll for Ontario employees is required, familiarity with payroll in other provinces is considered an asset.
•In-depth experience with QuickBooks (Online or Desktop) and a thorough understanding of the software for both payroll and accounting tasks.
•Proven proficiency in Excel with strong skills in building spreadsheets, applying formulas, and preparing detailed reports.
•Experience with ADP or comparable payroll processing software
•Strong understanding of payroll practices, including statutory deductions, CRA remittances, and employment standards.
•Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
•Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.
•Effective written and verbal communication skills.
•Diploma or certificate in accounting, business administration, or a related field is an asset
•Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check as part of the hiring process.
