The Accounting Manager is a key member of the management team that reports directly to the CEO. iDEAL Energies is comprised of a series of related companies working together, including solar development, sales, finance, construction, leasing operations and maintenance. The Accounting Manager works with iDEAL’s purchasing, warehouse, operations, and external accounting teams to perform all transactional accounting, inventory accounting and financial reporting. The Accounting Manager is an energetic team player who loves accounting, has strong attention to detail, is proactive and enjoys moving in a fast-paced environment. This role is an individual contributor position that leads and manages all aspects of the company’s accounting processes and financial reporting. The company’s external accountant is available to consult the Accounting Manager to verify accuracy and methodology.
This position manages financial entries, financial reporting, and data validation by auditing entries on financial statements to assure accuracy of individual company and inter-company transactions, accurate revenue recognition, and accurate expense recognition. The role involves leveraging established processes and promoting and assisting with integration of new technologies aimed to automate processes and drive results. The responsibilities include the following:
- Subject matter expert on business revenue, expenses, and financial systems.
- Perform all aspects of financial entry and financial reporting for the business including entering bills against purchase orders, generation of invoices, generation of financing packages for financed purchase and lease transactions, receiving and recording receivables.
- Generate transactional documents for solar transactions including finance packages, equity contributions, tax basis and depreciation.
- Collaborate with Purchasing and Operations teams to accurately track inventory, returns with replacements or credits.
- Collaborate and support business partners to deliver accurate and timely financial results, including relevant variance explanations, and routine reporting delivered to staff on scheduled basis.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for the Companies.
- Create and prepare comprehensive P&L by Job reports.
- Work with external accountants to support preparation of GAAP financial statement and collateral reviews.
- Drive ongoing efficiencies by leveraging and implementing the most current accounting software and tools to enable the business to manage inventories and improve reporting.
- Initiate continual process improvement to drive efficiencies and accuracy.
- Perform ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and other job duties as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Company.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required
- 5+ years’ experience in accounting or finance required- CPA preferred
- Finance and financial systems experience, including knowledge of QuickBooks and integrated applications
- Proven project management skills with the ability to handle a diverse workload and competing priorities
- Experience in financial accounting & inventory accounting
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Comfortable in an environment with changing priorities and competing demands for time
- Highly motivated with the ability to work on a team as well as independently to drive results
