The Accounting Lead position is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
· Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
· Oversee maintenance of accounts payable/receivable files and records and act as primary liaison to vendors
· Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
· Process payments and documents such as invoices, journal vouchers and statements
· Prepare and maintain financial records including general ledger entries, reconciliation and journal entries
· Compile credit card statements and supporting documentation from card holders
· Prepare month end reconciliations and journal entries
· Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting
· Creating periodic reports such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements
· Reconcile the company’s bank statements and bookkeeping ledgers
· Continuously look for opportunities to generate efficiencies and increase the effectiveness of financial operations
· Identify potential discrepancies and reconcile them by collecting and analyzing data
· Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and resolve any discrepancies in accounting records.
· Ensure the company's financial records are accurate and compliant with laws and regulations
· Record and track the costs of raw materials, labor and overhead expenses
· Calculate the cost of goods manufactured and the cost of goods sold
· Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
· Provide financial analyses as needed for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
· Staying up to date with current legislation relating to finance and accounting.
· Associate’s degree or equivalent experience is required for this position
· Excellent understanding of accounting rules and procedures
· Strong analytical skills, communication and computer skills
· Understanding of mathematics, accounting and financial processes
