The Accountant Consultant
for the Revenue & Regulatory Accounting Team is primarily responsible for managing the accounting, reporting and regulatory compliance related to revenue and regulatory matters. This role will primarily support ACC and FERC regulatory matters including ACC Retail Rate Cases, ACC Ratemaking Policies and Formula Rates, as well as other regulatory adjustor mechanisms, revenue recognition, jurisdictional financials and compliance filing matters. The candidate selected for this role will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and expertise in the ever-changing regulatory environment, including regulation (ACC and FERC), rate cases, formula rates, adjustor mechanisms, testimony preparation, and much more. This role will serve as an F&A liaison across the organization and partner with stakeholders throughout the company in scenario analysis, strategy, decision-making, alignment and communication in a wide range of regulatory matters. There is also opportunity to network with regulatory experts and professionals outside the organization.

- Understanding of regulatory frameworks, such as FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) rules for utilities.
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations.
- BS degree in accounting, finance or related field
- With five (5) years of experience (2 years preferred within an electric-utility environment) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- MBA, MS in Accounting or CPA certification preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting theory (GAAP), FERC and ACC requirements, and working knowledge of accounting and related systems.
- Strong analytical, research and problem solving skills and ability to communicate effectively with Executive management.
- Must possess a broad business perspective, problem solving skills, strong interpersonal, communication and consulting skills.
1) Prepares a variety of accurate and timely financial reports that are highly complex, participant billings, rate case studies and responds to information requests.
2) Analyzes and reconciles a variety of accounts and reports that are highly complex, and maintains financial reporting systems.
3) Perform a variety of highly complex economic studies to evaluate a range of standard business issues, proposals and alternatives.
4) Models financial activity to produce a variety of highly complex corporate financial targets and forecasts.
5) Supports regulatory and competitive strategies, analysis and findings.
6) Contributes to the development of department policies and procedures, accounting manuals and FERC regulations.
Hybrid:
Employees in hybrid roles work both in their home offices (virtually) and alongside their colleagues (in person). In order for employees to build strong relationships and to promote meaningful in-person interactions, hybrid employees are expected to work about 40% of their time in-person at an APS or other (non-home office) location.*Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).
