Co-direct activities of all warehouse associates with input from the Operations Manager. Update the Operations Manager hourly on daily order status, safety concerns and quality issues. Report any and all bottlenecks to the Operations Manager immediately along with a reasonable solution to the problem after the root cause has been identified.
Promote and encourage continuous improvement using lean methodologies. Understand, meet, follow and complete all required metrical reporting/vital factors. Monitor all inventory transactions and ensure they are completed in an efficient and prompt manner. Answer all associate or office questions throughout the shift in a professional manner. Train new associates on following proper work procedures and promote safety via start up meetings and safety walkthroughs. Promote and maintain the warehouse clean by assigning cleaning duties, and keeping up with 5s protocols.
Will be required to stand or walk in the warehouse for 8 or more hours a day. Required to operate and run a saw and a forklift when needed. Required to load and unload trucks when needed, bend over and stop to lift and stack material pieces by hand to secure material. Required to conduct cycle counts when needed. Assist billing and credit department with any order discrepancies. Some of the work is labor intensive and at times may require to lift between 1 to 50-pounds.
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain)
- Ability to read a tape measure and micrometer/caliper
- Use of Scan gun
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Valid State Driver’s License
- 1-2 years warehouse lead experience
- Steel or metal job history
- Email, Excel and Powerpoint experience
