Job Summary
The 2nd Shift Supervisor is responsible for safe operation and set-up of all machines on the shift primarily press brake at Creative Metal Products, Inc. This also includes leveraging off-line programs, material handling, first piece (interval and last piece) inspections, input on performance appraisals; the disposition of quality issues (QR's) and is the primary coordinator for press brake, pem, saw, and roll departments and the secondary coordinator for laser, turret and machining departments.
Duties
•On time and present 15 minutes prior to the start of the shift. This is to ensure your team has work instructions when they arrive.
•Spend 60% on average producing parts where/when needed per the Fabrication Manager.
•Works with the schedule, goals and priorities provided by Fabrication Manager to ensure that scheduled work is completed on-time.
•Use manufacturing knowledge and judgment to ensure quality requirements are met in the most efficient manner possible. Example, not assigning a job requiring a tight tolerance to a machine/work center that can’t hold such a tolerance, trying to hold a tighter tolerance than necessary and utilizing off-line programs available. This includes following company procedure on first piece inspections and in process inspections per ISO guidelines.
•Ensures productivity tracking is completed daily to monitor press brake efficiency. Also, ensure quotes vs actual production time is commensurate.
•Maximize departmental throughput. Use knowledge/resources to maximize the productivity of employees.
•Ensure completed product gets moved to their respective departments (shipping, weld, QC, etc).
•Provide training and supervises new employees (as needed) including set-up, machine operation, best practices, and safety. This also applies to employees that have been on our staff for 1+ years.
•Provide Fabrication Manager with a daily report on forming production status including work completed, orders ready to ship, and work in progress at end of shift.
•Ensure that press supplies/tools are not wasted/misused.
•Ensure work centers are cleaned daily (last 10-15 minutes)
•Interface with1st shift Form Department Coordinator to minimize work stoppage during changeover.
•Ensures general maintenance on equipment at appropriate schedules per the maintenance sheets.
•Assist Fabrication Manager, when required, in locating and rushing jobs that are due to customers.
•Ensure company policies are followed: (i.e., safety, break times, socializing during production, absenteeism, etc.).
•Work as Safety Liaison between Fabrication Manager/President.
Requirements
•Attract, retain and motivate an exceptional team.
•Understand mathematics to verify job requirements and specifications.
•Be able to operate hoists and fork lift trucks.
•Have high degree of working knowledge of metal processes and procedures such as welding, riveting, pemming, brake forming, shearing, etc.
•Have mechanical ability to troubleshoot basic/general equipment issues.
•Have a thorough understanding of engineering blueprints (including standard tolerances, theoretical intersections, etc).
•Knowledge of using calipers, squares, protractors and etc.
