JOB SUMMARY
This person will be responsible for set-up, lay-out, and tack up of a basic weldment to print. He/she must have the ability to tack up a structure and to weld out a part per drawing. He/she must also perform the final required cosmetic finish with angle grinders and sanders. The fabricator may use ten/thirty ton cranes in a safe manner and “rigging” knowledge is necessary. He/she will read basic prints and “spec. weld symbols” in conjunction with required job details. The fabricator will primarily work with mild steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
•Ability to set-up, lay-out, and tack up of a basic weldments
•Squaring up, welding, and maintaining various geometries of components
•Reading various weld form symbols on blueprints and understand size of fillet forms
•Welding both vertical and horizontal plane geometry
•Moving parts and heavy frames on and off a work table and throughout the facility
•Understanding various edge preps before welding
•Good understanding of set-up techniques
•Meeting agreed upon goals in a timely manner
•Assuring the end product is produced correctly and according to assembly blueprints
•Additional items as assigned by manager

•Ability to read assembly blueprints, follow instructions, and achieve Blueprint Certification

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE
•High School Diploma or GED
•Minimum of 2+ years of fabrication experience in the metal manufacturing industry preferred
•Welding Certification (Flux Core – Mild Steel & Stainless and Tig/Mig – Aluminum)

This position interacts with organizational team members and supervisors.
EQUIPMENT USED
Welding machines, including Tig (AC and DC) and Mig Welder, Stick Welder, operate 4.5 inch and 7 inch angle grinder, plasma cutter, oxy-act cutting torch, and various clamps and fixtures
WORKING AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
Lifting up to 50lbs regularly and 75lbs occasionally, pushing, pulling, standing for long periods of time, manual dexterity and visual acuity
