As one of the largest dual-unit, Boiling Water Reactor sites in the U.S., the Susquehanna Station generates approximately 2700 MW of electricity, powering the Northeastern Pennsylvania grid. The Talen Energy Engineering Internship is a comprehensive work-study program designed to provide college students with hands-on experience in both power plant operations and office settings. Internship Roles and Responsibilities:

Interns will support various Engineering activities (Nuclear, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical) at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station. Project assignments will vary by department and may involve tasks such as:

- Nuclear Engineering:

- Perform nuclear fuel management analysis.

- Develop performance indicators for nuclear risk assessment.

- Create parameter displays for the plant process computer system.

- Automate the development of Control Rod Movement Sheets.

- Mechanical and Electrical Engineering:

- Assist with plant modifications and engineering work requests.

- Conduct calculations, analysis, and specifications supporting plant upgrades.

- Update plant electrical system analysis to incorporate change mechanisms and optimize system capabilities.

- Generate user interface pages for monitoring equipment performance.

- Thermal Performance and Project Management:

- Participate in a "Missing Megawatts and Thermal Performance" project, including steam system walkdowns and the use of thermal monitoring software.

- Collaborate on a pilot project to develop radiation-resistant instruments for wireless applications.

- Investigate thermal losses, estimate megawatt impacts, and develop solution strategies.

Basic Qualifications:

- Enrolled in an accredited college or university program as an undergraduate or graduate student in Engineering.

- Must be a full-time student (minimum 12 semester hours).

- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

- Must be 18 years of age or older and able to provide an official transcript and other required documentation.

- Eligible to work in the U.S. in accordance with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regulations.
