Yard Laborer

Job Overview

Phoenix services is hiring a dedicated Yard Laborer. This company is a leading processor, seller and recycler of scrap metals, that has been in business since 1904!

Job Duties:

· Ensure safety standards are followed, including the use of required PPE (personal protective equipment).

· Load and unload materials from storage, production areas, docks, and delivery vehicles using mobile equipment or manually.

· Sort recycled materials/metals to separate out high-grade metals. Remove any non-conforming metals.

· Operate and maintain forklifts, skid steers, street sweeper, and water trucks.

· Execute tasks using hand tools, bander, chop saw, alligator shear, saw zall, and wire snips.

· Classify scrap including the grade, type of material and any undesirable elements within the material.

· Perform cleaning duties for plant equipment and general housekeeping.

· Assist mechanics with the maintenance of equipment.

Qualifications:

· Must be at least 18 years of age.

· Must be able to perform basic math.

· Mobile equipment experience preferred.

· Strong communication skills required.

· Ability to maintain precise records.

· Ability to climb ladders or steps.

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

· Able to interact with all levels of employees and customers professionally.

· Must be able to work in a setting exposed to dust, dirt, vibrations and extreme weather conditions.

Pay Rate: $17.00/hour

Schedule: 7:00 am – 4:00pm

OT and weekends as needed
