About This Job

The Workers' Compensation and Special Projects EHS Manager is responsible for managing the workers' compensation program and overseeing EHS-related special projects within the organization. This role involves ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, managing claims and return-to-work processes, developing proactive injury prevention strategies, and driving continuous improvement in workplace safety and employee well-being. The Manager will also lead and support special EHS projects aimed at enhancing environmental, health, and safety performance across the company.


Workers' Compensation Management:

* Claims Management: Oversee the management of workers' compensation claims, from reporting through resolution, ensuring that all claims are handled promptly and in compliance with applicable laws and company policies.

Return-to-Work Programs: Develop and manage return-to-work strategies and programs, ensuring injured employees are reintegrated into the workplace as safely and efficiently as possible.
Liaison: Serve as the primary contact for injured employees, medical providers, insurance carriers, and legal teams related to workers' compensation claims.
Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of workers' compensation claims, documentation, and injury data. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to regulators and stakeholders.
Cost Management: Monitor and report on workers' compensation costs, aiming to reduce claims frequency, severity, and overall costs through proactive safety initiatives.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local workers' compensation regulations, and implement policies and practices to maintain compliance.


Special Projects Management:

* EHS Initiatives: Lead and manage special projects focused on improving the overall EHS performance, including but not limited to safety audits, safety training programs, ergonomic assessments, and sustainability initiatives.

Process Improvement: Work cross-functionally to identify, plan, and implement improvements to EHS processes, systems, and tools to enhance workplace safety and environmental practices.
Project Leadership: Lead cross-functional teams on special EHS projects, ensuring that goals are met on time, within scope, and on budget.
Training and Communication: Develop and deliver training programs, communications, and presentations related to special EHS initiatives, ensuring all employees are informed and engaged

Safety and Risk Management:* Safety Compliance: Oversee the implementation of safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory bodies.

Risk Assessments: Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards in the workplace and recommend corrective actions.
Injury Prevention: Develop and implement injury prevention strategies, including safety campaigns, hazard analyses, and ergonomic interventions

Team Collaboration and Leadership:Collaboration: Work closely with HR, Legal, Operations, and other departments to ensure alignment in workers' compensation management and safety initiatives.Requirements:Qualifications / Knowledge / Critical SkillsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, Environmental Science, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.Experience:* At least 5-7 years of experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety management, including workers' compensation and special projects.

Proven track record in managing workers' compensation programs and safety programs in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment.
Experience in leading cross-functional projects related to EHS or risk management.

Certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), or other EHS-related certifications preferred.Skills:* Strong knowledge of workers' compensation laws and regulations.

Proven ability to manage special projects, lead teams, and drive results.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
Familiarity with EHS software and incident management systems.
