The Wireline Trainee acts as support role to the plugging and abandonment program in PA, WV & OH. This is an entry-level position and will work under the guidance of experienced Wireline Engineers to learn to operate specialized equipment, follow safety protocols, and contribute to environmentally responsible well-retirement procedures. The role offers hands-on experience, training, and the opportunity to grow into a skilled Wireline Engineer within a company dedicated to safety, efficiency, and environmental stewardship.
- Coordinate with Wireline Engineer, Wireline Manager, Rig Manager, and/or Rig Foreman to prepare and ensure readiness of the truck and tools for jobs prior to arrival on site.
- Coordinate with Wireline Engineer and rig employees to safely position the wireline truck on location and safely rig up wireline support equipment such as chains, sheaves, and pack-offs.
- Assist with rigging up tools including but not limited to Gamma ray, collar locator, cement bond, sinker bars, free point, setting tools, casing and tubing cutters, bi-wire guns, collar busters, gauge ring / junk basket. Learn and understand the purpose, function and mechanics, limitations, common issues, maintenance and care, computer set up, logging parameters, log interpretation, etc.
- Assist with tracking and inventorying explosives and all expendables.
- Inspect, clean, service, maintain, and rebuild all tools.
- Learn how to safely handle and work with explosives. Become familiar with the regulations on storing, handling, transporting, and using explosives.
- Become familiar with running the wireline draw works. Learn to efficiently operate the Warrior 7 and 8 wireline computer system. Troubleshoot and correct issues with the truck and computer system.
- Learn to monitor, evaluate, and adjust processes or equipment to maximize quality and efficiency.
- Maintain open communication with Wireline Engineer and leadership. Seek feedback and ensure complete understanding of all wireline-related processes, procedures, and operations.
- Prioritize safety at all times. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company policies, promoting a culture of safety on and off the job site.
- Become familiar with local, state, and wireline regulations applicable to wireline explosives operations. Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations governing the transportation of hazardous materials and equipment.
- Follow environmental guidelines and best practices to minimize the impact of operations on the environment.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies while always maintaining courtesy and professionalism.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of all vehicles.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all near misses, workplace injuries, accidents, or illness, regardless of the severity of the injury or accident.
- Complete and submit daily operations report detailing operational activity.
- Check emails and other company communications daily; comply with requests as they are assigned.
- Complete all company assigned training by the stated deadlines.
- Perform any other duties as requested or assigned, including occasionally assisting with non-plugging or special projects per direction of management.
- Possess at least a Class B CDL.
- Have or obtain within 6 months of hire a Hazardous Materials Endorsement on CDL.
- Have or obtain within 6 months of hire an appropriate Blaster’s License.
- Within 6 months of hire, pass an ATF background check and receive Explosives Possessor’s License.
- Knowledge of local and state commercial driving regulations.
- Knowledge of and commitment to safety procedures and regulations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Willingness to work in various weather and well site conditions.
- Willingness to travel to remote well sites and work extended hours when necessary.
- Basic math skills.
- Basic computer skills/proficiency.
- Must be able to move or traverse from one location on the job site to another. This includes the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods, frequently positioning oneself (e.g., to stoop, kneel, or squat) to perform tasks, and occasionally ascend/descend (e.g., ladders or uneven terrain)
- Ability to detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, and assess driving operations effectively (either naturally or with corrective lenses).
- Ability to operate a 4X4 vehicle.
- Must be able to repetitively move or position feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, and back. Constantly operates, uses, and positions hands and fingers in performance of work
- Must be able to work atop elevated surfaces and traverse various heights
- Lifts or carries 116 lbs. or more, which falls into the "heavy" category (over 50 pounds).
- Frequently pushes and pulls with a maximum force of 150 ft./lbs.
- Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions and is exposed to varying environmental conditions, including well site conditions. The position requires the ability to perform tasks in physically demanding environments, encompassing the essential physical requirements and efforts outline
