RNWBL is hiring a Wind Technician Apprentice to join our Registered Apprenticeship Program. This is a hands-on, paid training opportunity designed to prepare you for a long-term career in renewable energy. You’ll work on active wind turbine or solar sites, gain real-world experience, and receive technical instruction—all while getting paid.
This structured, 2–3 year program includes on-the-job learning (OJL) and related technical instruction (RTI), offering a clear path to become a certified wind technician.
- Climb wind turbine towers safely using fall protection systems and perform tasks at heights
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair wind turbine systems per manufacturer and safety standards
- Follow all RNWBL EHS policies and site-specific safety procedures
- Assist in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems (e.g., wiring, hydraulics, gearboxes)
- Perform preventative maintenance and document work through logs, reports, and checklists
- Participate in daily safety briefings and team coordination meetings
- Learn from journeyworkers and site leads to develop technical and soft skills
- Assist with electrical system installation, grounding, and grid connection
- Track on-the-job learning (OJL) hours and complete required RTI coursework
- Travel to renewable project sites with extended overnight stays as needed
- At least 18 years old
- High school diploma or GED required; technical coursework preferred
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel
- Physically able to climb towers, lift heavy tools, and work in all weather conditions
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
- Dependable, coachable, and motivated to learn hands-on technical skills
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to completing a 2–3 year registered apprenticeship (OJL + RTI)- Able to pass background check and drug screening
