- Drives truck or equipment in a safe and careful manner as dispatched, including to outlying locations; travels and works for extended periods as necessary for drill site requirements, customer work orders, and miscellaneous company assignments.
- Follows rules and regulations of the industry as required by the Department of Transportation; maintains current knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Reports compliance problems to supervisor.
- Follows company policies and procedures as required in the Driver and Operator Standards and Procedures and Driver and Operator Point System. Reports compliance problems to supervisor.
- Reads and is knowledgeable of Material Safety Data Sheets for all goods being hauled. Knows proper handling and disposal procedure for substances requiring specialized handling and disposal.
- Knows and follows the proper safe methods to load and unload freight, machinery, equipment, and materials at customer locations, drill sites, refineries, gas plants, and other worksites as required.
- Performs basic maintenance requirements such as replacing hoses, fittings, and couplings. Performs miscellaneous emergency roadside equipment repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, and making acceptable temporary repairs.
- Attaches and removes full set of tire chains, multiple times each day as necessary, for maximum safety and efficiency in driving.
- Keeps daily written vehicle and personal records as required; complies with rules and regulations of the Department of Transportation, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and other federal, state, and local agencies; and follows company policies and procedures to maintain and report truck and driver information.
- Remains alert to potential hazardous concentrations of hydrogen sulfide (H2S). Is trained in and understands the dangers and ramifications of the presence of H2S and carries H2S training card on person at all times.
- May be required to periodically work out of location other than base terminal for special assignments.
- Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older.
- Acceptable motor vehicle record and an attitude conducive to safety.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with all endorsements.
- English language fluency, verbal and written.
- Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check, credit check and drug/alcohol test.
