Job Description

Position Summary

The Jr. Business Strategist is responsible for a variety of tasks including but not limited to maintaining WGL Energy's strategic priorities, performing analytical reviews, providing analysis to internal and external departments to support the success of WGL Energy.

The ideal candidate will easily fit into a fast-paced, dynamic, creative team driven to accelerate the future of retail energy within WGL Energy. This position will support the WGL Energy leadership team.

Tasks and Responsibilities

- Work closely and assist the WGL Energy Leadership team in daily operations and strategic planning.

- Manage departmental and company projects within time and budget guidelines, including the conduct of research, preparation of presentation materials, development of recommendations, project implementation, monitoring and revision as necessary.

- Participate in departmental planning and the monthly reporting process by collecting and monitoring actual performance data against prepared forecasts.

- Conduct research and analysis to support business decisions.

- Develop financial models and create business case presentations.

- Prepare reports, presentations, and other documents for internal and external stakeholders.

- Coordinate and manage special projects and initiatives.

- Facilitate communication and collaboration across departments.

- Support the development and implementation of business strategies.

- Monitor and track key performance indicators and provide insights.

- Provide additional support on requested tasks, prioritize tasks, communicate across the team, proactively report performance, and develop next steps.

- Be able to collaborate, and explicitly communicate and work with AltaGas and Washington Gas team members.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills And Abilities

- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a closely related field is required. MBA is preferred.

- 1-3 Years accounting, financial or business experience required

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a focus on delivering high-quality products under rapidly changing priorities.

- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

- Communicate proactively and follow up as needed.

- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000 to $104,000 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
