Perform general labor duties in the steel fabrication shop. Duties include operating basic hand tools, and assisting machine operators and welders. Housekeeping and material handling are also components of this position. Painter performs several activities, including washing, basic rigging, paint prepping, painting, general maintenance, etc. on parts, steel, and equipment.

- Handle materials-within the shop and outdoors as required
- Perform housekeeping duties
- Operate basic hand tools and powered hand tools, drills, disc grinders etc.
- Operate equipment such as, metal cutting saws, cutting torches, drills, material handling equipment, grinders, etc.
- Perform work safely and follow established work procedures
- Take care of equipment and report equipment that requires servicing or repair
- Utilize a variety of techniques and tools in painting surfaces, using a selection of tools like spray equipment, stencils, rollers, and brushes
- Responsible for prepping the substrate for painting by applying a mechanical etch (sanding/media blasting), washing the substrate with chemical etching solutions, and force drying the substrate with compressed air fans
- Utilize equipment such as viscosity cup, stir sticks gauges to verify the makeup of the paint and use knowledge of the job to mix to paint to specification
- Application of a wide range of industrial liquid coating which may include one- or three-coat procedures to manufactured products in accordance with the specification.
- Employee may also be asked by supervisor or other management to perform tasks would be outside the parameters of duties or job functions, you will be expected to complete these job functions as well
