WCM-Finishing Operator C

Description:

Perform all phases of secondary casting part finishing. Activities will include removal of flashing and gating, cutting or knocking off risers, grinding riser contacts pre- and post- heat treatment, chipping burnt on sand or other inclusions, excavation of defects, opening flashed-over holes, and finish grinding and blending of rough casting surfaces. Must be familiar with all phases of the grinding/cleaning process and be able to perform all related duties.

Perform all related operations in the grinding, fitting and assembly of Bull Ring Assemblies. Must be able to break segments from the gating. Must be familiar with the differences between various types of segments and their unique finishing requirements. Compile the quantities of segments necessary to build out assemblies on order, or report missing the appropriate number and type of segments needed to complete a job. Understand the breadth of the product line and exhibit the ability to select components for and fit an assembly in its proper bowl. Understand the quality requirements and the steps taken to properly box and identify a packaged assembly.

Continuous physical effort in handling finishing tools and equipment is required. Mostly light to moderate lifting. Position works primarily in the standing position; although, at times, requires frequent lifting and handling of medium to large castings. Chain hoists and/or overhead cranes are available for lifting heavy work. Some heavy lifting, push/pulling on occasion. Some work must be performed in an awkward position.

Employees working in this position are required to frequently walk or hear. The employee is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
