NW Natural Water Services is seeking a Water Operations Technician to operate, monitor and manage water treatment plants and distribution systems. The Operations Tech will be responsible for overseeing all water treatment plant equipment and processes to meet permit requirements and plant performance goals. The Operations Tech will serve under the plant Supervising Operator and under most circumstances, work will be performed under the supervision of the Supervising Operator.
Essential functions of the Operations Tech include, but are not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:
· Monitor and maintain water treatment plant equipment (such as filters, pumps, UV, chemical dosing and related equipment)
· Collect samples in accordance with OHA compliance standards.
· Participate in system wide flushing and valve exercising operation.
· Read and record meter and gauge readings related to plant operations
· Report malfunctioning equipment and perform minor maintenance
· Assist in distribution leak repair and capital improvement projects.
· Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety procedures of the work
· Ability to travel and work in inclement weather conditions on a daily basis
· Ability to communicate and consult with Supervising Operator on a daily basis
· Ability to operate equipment in a safe manner
· Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Salary Ranges
Operator in Training : $25-$32 / hour
