Job Listing Summary
Meter Technician is responsible for a successful and safe removal and installation of water meter, gas meter and electric meters for city utilities. Responsible for collecting accurate data and inputting data for Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and Automated Metering Reading (AMR) industry.
Hours – 40 Hours a week. Typically, City hours worked. Holidays off.
Pay-Rate – Hourly-rate averages of $25.00 – 45.00 an hour.
Previous water, electrical and gas meter reading or installation preferred but not necessary.
Requirements
•Must pass a background check.
•Must have a personal reliable vehicle that is needed for work.
•Must have a valid driver license.
•Must provide and obtain proof of vehicle insurance.
•Must have basic mechanical skills and have the ability to work with your hands outside in all weather conditions.
•Meter Technician job duties consist of and vary from project to project.
•Physical work with work consisting outside with weather conditions.
•Load product and unload product daily form personal vehicle that is needed for the day of work.
•Drive through city routes to work site to start designated work given.
•Remove existing meter and gather accurate current information needed.
•Install new meter and input new information for accounts through hand held system.
•Program Meter and Radio for communication to system.
•Meter technician must analyze job site to complete task for a successful and safe install of meter, information gathered and program radio.
•Work environment consist of city utility's locations of water meters which are located outside of homes in the yard typically.
