Under the general direction of the Wastewater Operations Manager, responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance and repair of the wastewater/water treatment plant equipment, and performs related work as required.
· Develop and communicate daily, weekly, and monthly goals with team.
· Communicate with management staff about daily operation goals.
· Communicate any challenges, barriers, or failures in operation to team and management staff.
· Communicate with staff about any health and safety hazards.
· Maintain healthy working relationships with team and management staff.
· Perform routine jar testing of influent wastewater streams to verify chemical dosages required for ideal effluent water quality.
· Operate valves, centripetal pumps, diaphragm pumps, submersible pumps, trash pumps, and cam-lock hoses associated with transferring water and sludge.
· Operate chemical feed pumps, mixers, and static mixers associated with coagulation/flocculation processes.
· Operate heavy machinery associated with moving chemical totes, barrels, and sludge solidification.
· Observe all variations in treatment process; record all meter, sensor, and gauge readings.
· Performs necessary process control adjustments in response to process variations.
· Maintain routine process observations and record operating data such as tank volumes, treated water volumes, run times, chemical usage, and other process information.
· Record operating data in shift logs and perform mathematical calculations regarding available capacity, and chemical usage.
· Monitor flow, displays, pressure gauges, paperwork, and any systems associated with water treatment systems
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, unpleasant odors, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
