Full-time role for a Wastewater Operator 3 located in the City of Maricopa. The wastewater operator 3 performs a variety of skilled work to maintain the wastewater systems, pumps, motors, and related appurtenances, wastewater treatment plant equipment and operations. Additionally, the operator may be subject to on-call work, emergency call back work and subject to shift work that may include nights and weekends. Grade 3 ADEQ Wastewater Certification preferred, Grade 2 ADEQ Wastewater Certification required with the ability to obtain a Grade 3 ADEQ Wastewater Certification within 12 months. Having a clean driving record with no restrictions is required.
· Inspect, operate, maintain and make basic repairs on wastewater treatment plant equipment; make necessary adjustments in accordance with established guidelines.
· Operates all equipment used in wastewater reclamation facilities including pumps, motors, disinfection, odor control, and flow regulating devices. Checks wet wells and electrical panels, adjusts chemical feed rates, and completes work orders.
· Demonstrates a continuous effort to improve operations by streamlining work processes, decreasing turnaround times, and working cooperatively and jointly to provide efficiency and excellence in the use of resources.
· Delivers outstanding customer service. Establishes and maintains open communication with all internal and external customers; to include co-workers, contractors, residents, and other Utility departments. Informs immediate supervisor of daily operations, important developments, and work activities.
· Clean and maintain equipment facilities and grounds to assure plant is in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
· Conducts all company work related efforts and activities within the rules, regulations, and responsibilities of the most current company safety policy and OHSA regulations.
· Executes routine and emergency operational, maintenance, construction, and repair functions of infrastructure or equipment utilized in the wastewater reclamation division.
· Perform routine laboratory analyses of water and wastewater treatment plant products; make calculations and prepare analysis reports as required.
· Conducts daily inspections of reclamation facilities; process sampling, logs daily records; interprets readings from meters, gauges, charts, and instruments, and adjusts; accordingly, and detects mechanical or process deficiencies and communicates findings to the supervisor.
Education/Knowledge: Work requires knowledge necessary to understand intermediate operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to high school degree or equivalency.
Social Skills: Must act in a respectful, knowledgeable, and professional manner. Work requires regular interaction involving exchange and receipt of complex information; adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions; trying to reconcile differences; actively looking for ways to help people and Global Water be successful. Will interact with employees at all levels and represent Global Water externally.
Physical Demands: Sitting for extended periods; prolonged periods of time with repetitive motions of hands and fingers; close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus; climb stairs, navigate uneven terrain; use fingers to grasp and move small objects; ability to hear and recognize sounds; able to react quickly using hands, fingers, or feet; able to utilize personal protective equipment as appropriate for safety. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to thirty pounds.
Writing: Work requires the ability to write work orders, memos, letters, reports and keep accurate daily records at treatment facilities.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related field.
Time Management: Ability to complete repairs and tasks in a timely fashion.
Technical Skills: Work requires the use of intermediate technical skills appropriate to the work environment of the organization. Moderate analysis and independent thinking is utilized. Work requires understanding and knowledge of using SCADA.
General: Must have satisfactory outcome of drug testing, criminal record checks, motor vehicle record, and employment records prior to starting employment.
Licenses: Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license.
Location: Primary location will be the Global Water Center located in the City of Maricopa.
