The main objective of the Warehouse Supervisor for the PSS Industrial Group is to plan, organize, schedule and monitor the receiving, storage, packaging, shipping and distribution of the individual branch. This position will ensure a smooth and consistent operation of parts and supplies received and distributed in an effective and efficient manner as needed to satisfy internal and external customers. This position reports directly to a Branch Manager. Depending on the branch, this position may supervise from 2 to 20 employees. (There may be some variations to this job description based on the specific branch)
- Actively trains new personnel per the company’s established policies and procedures in shipping, receiving and material handling or other functions as needed.
- Enforces safety standards within the warehouse. Completes monthly safety reports and conducts safety meetings as required. Identifies and removes risks related to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Determines staff levels and assigns workload. Active participates in the selection of new hires, performance evaluation, employee counseling, and decision to terminate when appropriate.
- Maintains equipment in good operational condition and schedules preventative maintenance.
- Schedules warehouse personnel and maintains vacation schedule. Approves time in ADP Time and Attendance module for all direct reports.
- Secures warehouse by turning off/on alarm and locking doors as per branch protocols.
- Assists Branch Manager with inventory control tasks and other projects as needed.
- Maintains warehouse organized and inventory secure. Looks for ways to improve efficiency of warehouse operations.
- Works closely with Branch Manager and Inside Sales Team to ensure product availability and accurate and timely shipments.
- Uses company’s internal ERP system per policies and procedures to effectively communicate information with other branches.
- Performs all warehouse functions when needed.
- High School degree or equivalent
- 3 -5 years of related experience with 2+ years of supervisory experience- Proficient knowledge of good warehousing practices
- Good knowledge of OSHA regulations as it pertains to warehouse
- Ability to drive a forklift
- Effective skills in Warehouse ERP software.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and written
- Strong organizational skills
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to motivate and mentor personnel.
- Ability to effective select qualified candidates for hire, evaluate appropriate and fairly and take appropriate disciplinary action when warranted.
