Job Summary: The Shipping and Receiving Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily activities of the shipping, receiving and inventory departments. This role ensures that all goods are accurately processed and shipped in a timely manner, while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. This position demands a combination of leadership abilities and hands-on experience, as the manager must enhance warehouse operations to meet the organization's goals and customer expectations. Acting as the central point of contact between shipping carriers, suppliers, customers, and staff, the Shipping and Receiving Manager is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation of a vital stage in the product lifecycle, from storage to delivery.
- Manage and coordinate all shipping and receiving activities to ensure timely and accurate processing of orders.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate shipping and receiving staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring accurate stock records and timely replenishment by conducting cycle counts as required.
- Develop and implement procedures for efficient handling, storage, and distribution of goods.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Negotiate and manage relationships with shipping carriers and suppliers to optimize shipping rates and service levels.
- Conduct regular inspections of incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure they meet company standards and address any discrepancies or issues.
- Ensure accurate documentation for all shipments and receipts, including bills of lading, packing lists, and inventory records.
- Prepare and present regular reports on shipping and receiving activities, including metrics such as shipping times, accuracy rates, and inventory levels.
- Address and resolve any issues related to shipping, receiving, or inventory in a timely manner.
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) and other technologies to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Forecast future inventory requirements and planning resources accordingly.
- Prepare and manage the warehouse operational budget to control expenses and optimize resources.
- Manage and optimize warehouse layout to streamline operations and maximize space utilization.
- Collaborate with the Las Vegas Warehouse Manager with 3-4 onsite visits yearly.
- Manage, train, and supervise warehouse staff, including forklift operators, pickers, and packers.
- Foster a team environment and promote employee development.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in shipping and receiving or logistics management, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
- General computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word
- Forklift Certification
- Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with shipping and inventory management software (e.g., ERP systems, WMS)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues effectively
