The warehouse clerk is responsible for ensuring that incoming and outgoing shipments are completed accurately. Over time they are required to rotate through the four main processes of the US warehouse operations which consist of assembly, receiving, field returns, and shipping.
- Ensures the accuracy of all shipping/receiving documents and gathers and maintains all data and records relative to shipping/receiving activities.
- Prepares shipments by assembling, packing, protecting, and labeling containers.
- Determines method of shipment by examining items to be shipped, destination, route, and time of shipment.
- Ships items by verifying identifying information, quantity, and condition of items; loading and protecting items.
- Documents items shipped by recording identifying information of items and transport information.
- Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Conducts daily cycle counts.
- Receives freight orders and subdivides into separate product category for verification and stocking activities.
- Verifies (recounts) orders received by others to ensure accuracy of incoming merchandise.
- Utilize RMS to ascertain number, size, color, and quantity of merchandise to be picked from bins, shelves, or locations.
- Picks customer orders for shipment, ensuring that the correct number and type of product is loaded and shipped.
- Utilize material handling equipment, safely and efficiently, to transport product to shipping locations or delivery platforms and ensuring orders are staged in order of delivery.
- Organize items of pallet by unit as necessary and repacks and weigh orders which require special handling.
- Maintains warehouse equipment by noting and reporting any damage or malfunction.
- Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
- Assists in maintaining the security and safety of the warehouse.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and basic understanding of Excel
- Problem solving and analytical skills; ability to adapt to changing circumstances
- A high degree of personal initiative; able to work under pressure
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with emphasis on customer service
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous shipping/receiving experience is preferred
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about the facility
- Ability to lift 45 lbs., vertical from floor to 60 inches from floor
- Ability to crouch/squat 5 or more times daily
- Ability to use handtools over-head performing tasks 5 or more times per day
