Vice President of Energy Management Services
Position Overview
The Vice President of Energy Management Services will drive revenue growth through the acquisition of new clients and expansion of 24/7 operations services for existing customers, while maintaining Guzman Energy's exceptional customer-focused reputation.
Base Compensation $200k-$300k
Responsibilities
•Leveraging the existing Guzman platform, develop new operations service offerings including VPP integration, renewable asset management, demand response program operations, and data center and other C&I customer energy management
•Track operational trends and develop innovative energy management solutions for clients
•Lead business development efforts for day-ahead and real-time energy management services, including control room operations, dispatch services, and balancing authority functions on behalf of customers
•Coordinate with supply, operations, trading, and technical teams to develop customized operations solutions that meet client needs
•Create proposals and pricing for comprehensive energy operations and management services in collaboration with the energy operations center, modeling, forecasting, and financial teams
•Structure and negotiate service agreements in collaboration with risk and legal teams
•Champion new service deals through the investment committee process for internal and board approvals
•Implement and maintain a standard contract and relationship management system
•Build and maintain relationships with utility and commercial customers, particularly at senior operational and executive levels
•Own the P&L for energy management services, and build and lead a team focused on operations services business development and client engagement throughout the sales and implementation process as the business grows
•Maintain deep understanding of power markets, operations technologies, and regulatory activities impacting energy operations
•Prepare and deliver compelling internal and external presentations to diverse stakeholders
Qualifications & Requirements
•Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, energy management, or related field
•5+ years in the energy sector with demonstrated expertise in operations services, energy management, trading, commercial deal structuring, and negotiations
•Deep knowledge of 24/7 energy operations, including control room functions, dispatch services, and real-time energy management
•Experience with distribution utilities (cooperatives, municipalities, tribes, and CCAs), transmission systems, and power markets
•Strong understanding of WECC, SPP, ERCOT, MISO and/or CAISO market operations with a focus on Mid-C
•Travel > 40% of the time
•Exceptional organizational, networking, leadership, and time management abilities
•Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and energy management platforms
•Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
•Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders and build strong relationships
•Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to translate technical concepts to business value
Preferred Qualifications
•10+ years of experience in energy operations and service development
•Direct experience managing or selling 24/7 energy operations services
•Experience with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and energy management systems
•Entrepreneurial mindset with commitment to excellence and ability to execute under tight deadlines
•Experience in renewable integration, advanced energy operations, and emerging technologies
•Proven track record of closing complex service agreements
