SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision, provides support in vegetation management within the company's rights-of-way, with the goal of supporting the best balance of system reliability and safety within the established budget.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Forestry or Arboriculture with one to three years experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess current, legally valid driver's license and meet the Company's driving record requirements.
Must apply for and take the ISA Certified Arborist Exam within one year.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations
Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations
Ability to effectively listen and get clarification to respond to a wide-range of questions
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
COMPUTER SKILLS:

ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:

DECISION MAKING:
Ability to analyze and evaluate some of the basic influencing factors on vegetation growth such as weather, growing season, availability of water, etc. in order to forecast the general impact on system reliability, public safety and environmental consequences.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to sit up to 2/3 of the time and to stand, walk, and stoop up to 1/3 of the time. Good vision and ability to adjust focus is required. Manual dexterity is required. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Works outdoors 75% of the time in different types of weather including extreme heat and cold. Requires driving and walking through customers' properties and sometimes rough terrain. May work with herbicides and related equipment.

Specialist, Vegetation Management II

Under general supervision, independently provides management of vegetation within the Company's rights-of-way through supporting the best balance of system reliability and safety within the established budget. Assists in planning, developing, initiating and modifying a system-wide vegetation management program that includes the pruning and removal of trees, brush control and herbicide applications on various transmission and distribution rights-of-way.

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Forestry or Arboriculture with three to five years experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.

ISA Arborist Certification is required.
State Pesticide Applicators license is required.

Contributes directly to planning, developing, initiating and modifying a system-wide vegetation management program that includes the pruning and removal of trees, brush control and herbicide applications on various transmission and distribution rights-of-way.
