Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Utility Planner/Design to join our team. This role is essential in supporting various projects related to urban planning and customer electric and/or service upgrades - from scoping through construction. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in customer service, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills, along with proficiency in various software tools. As a Utility Planner/Designer, you will contribute to the successful execution of projects while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Conduct field investigations and meet with customers and contractors to analyze and manage additions to gas and electric facilities.
- Provide customers with detailed information regarding costs, timing, and job scope options.
- Determine the feasibility of proposed additions and negotiate service and meter locations.
- Identify and resolve field conditions to mitigate construction constraints.
- Prepare designs for cost-effective construction service orders conforming to safety and reliability standards.
- Analyze customer load data and coordinate gas and electric load studies.
- Calculate all costs associated with assigned projects and negotiate Right of Way acquisitions and permits.
- Utilize software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit BlueBeam, SnagIt for drafting and design tasks.
- Collaborate with team members on project scheduling to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Engage in research activities to gather information pertinent to urban planning and utility management.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, BlueBeam, or similar drafting/design program.
- Strong customer communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent writing and documentation skills.
- Knowledge of construction/utility processes and contracts is highly desirable.
- Ability to conduct thorough research and data analysis to inform project decisions.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- 2 years of experience in drafting, electric or gas construction, electrical or plumbing trades, customer service, or project management support.
- Conceptual and analytical abilities to design and plan service planner activities.
- Excellent communication skills to manage project requirements.
