Utility Locator Internship

Century Engineering, a Kleinfelder company, is currently looking for a Utility Locator Intern to learn subsurface utility locates on highway, utility and private projects within the Delmarva region. The person filling this role will be required to report to the Dover, DE office.

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of a Utility Locate Supervisor, the person filling this role will be trained on work that involves visual inspection of predefined construction areas as well as reading and interpreting utility maps to determine the presence of underground utilities, while using special electronic equipment to detect and locate said utilities. The utilities may include (but not be limited to) gas, electricity, cable TV, telecommunications, sanitary sewer, water lines, street lighting and other facilities within the predefined construction area.

Requirements:

Physical Abilities:

Regular use of hands and fingers to operate specialized equipment and tools; reaching overhead above the shoulders and horizontally; bending at the waist; standing and or walking for extended periods of time; hearing and speaking to exchange information; carrying 3-5 lb. electronic locating equipment for extended periods of time; lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
