The Laborer performs a wide range of physical labor tasks in support of other workers on the construction site. Reporting to the Crew Leader or Foreman, to which they are assigned, this position requires an understanding of the importance of safety on the construction site and adherence to company policies, ensuring safety is always held in the highest regard. Duties vary depending on the type of work assigned for the day.
- Must be willing to perform manual labor related tasks to support projects
- Operates a variety of hand and power tools
- Transports, loads and unloads, and prepares equipment and materials for job site tasks
- Prepares, restores, and cleans job sites of rubble and debris
- Conducts manual excavation around existing utilities as needed
- Digs trenches, set braces to support excavations, erect scaffolding
- Reports equipment repair needs promptly to the Foreman or Supervisor
- Performs light maintenance and repair on tools and equipment
- Assists in transporting equipment to and from job sites
- Five (5) + years of experience on construction sites
- Must have the physical strength, stamina, and focus to perform tasks in strenuous and potentially hazardous work environments and varying weather conditions, including but not limited to snow, rain, and fluctuating temperatures
- Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials and equipment as required for construction tasks
- Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Must be comfortable working in deep trenches and other confined spaces
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and practices
- Possess a strong work ethic and desire to learn
- Valid driver’s license or transportation to the worksite
- Ability to operate or assist with heavier machinery (e.g., loaders, mini excavators)
- Certification in OSHA safety standards or other relevant safety certifications
- Experience in utility excavation or site preparation
