Damage Prevention Technicians at Novo are responsible for performing utility locate services and inspections on utility systems. As a part of the state 811 system, the technician will coordinate with excavators to ensure the safety and integrity of underground electrical and communication lines during excavation activities. Additionally, the technician will document and process state-required tickets to ensure compliance with all standards.
Schedule and coordinate the review of excavation activities near assigned underground powerlines.
Use electronic line locator equipment to mark the centerline of electrical facilities near third-party excavations. Install permanent and temporary markings as visual indicators of powerline locations, and complete and submit all required documentation.
Drive vehicles over various terrains and ensure their safe operation.
Read and interpret maps and alignment sheets to determine utility line routes.
Process One-Call tickets and respond within the state-mandated time frame.
Utilize mapping programs and online databases to determine third-party excavation locations, easement boundaries, and report conditions.
Travel to job sites to review and meet with third parties and oversee third-party excavation performance.
Ensure compliance with all Co-op restrictions and procedures related to excavation activities near operator pipelines.
