Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Superintendent with a strong background in underground utilities (storm, sewer, water) to oversee and coordinate pipe installation operations on job sites. This role is essential to maintaining safety, efficiency, and compliance with engineering standards and contractual goals. The Superintendent will supervise crews, maintain daily documentation, and ensure project milestones are met safely and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
•Plan and oversee all pipe installation activities while ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, including trench safety and confined space protocols
•Lead, coordinate, and supervise crews to ensure safety, productivity, and quality
•Review construction drawings and blueprints to confirm job specifications
•Conduct daily inspections of work progress, equipment, and safety conditions
•Manage job site documentation, including daily reports, JHAs, time sheets, trench logs, confined space logs, and toolbox talks
•Perform or oversee layout, grade checking, and elevation shooting
•Organize labor, equipment, and materials to optimize project timelines and minimize costs
•Report equipment/material usage, crew productivity, and hours worked
•Adjust schedules and resources based on job progress and field conditions
•Maintain a consistent inventory of equipment and materials ahead of demand
•Assist crews with pipe installation or problem-solving when needed
•Train, motivate, and evaluate team members to maintain high performance
•Communicate effectively with management, inspectors, and field staff
•Conduct regular safety toolbox meetings and enforce safety protocols
•Ensure all documentation is accurate, timely, and legible
•Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and adherence to company values at all times
Required Experience & Qualifications
•Minimum of 5–10 years’ experience in underground utility installation (storm, sewer, water, reclaim)
•Proven experience in a supervisory or management role on heavy civil or utility projects
•Thorough knowledge of underground piping types: RCP, CMP, DIP, PVC, HDPE, HP, etc.
•Competence in culvert systems, trenching, excavation, backfilling, and compacting
•Strong understanding of jobsite safety, equipment operation, and workflow sequencing
•Ability to interpret detailed construction and engineering plans
•Proficient with grading, layout, and elevation setting
•Must be able to assist in hands-on field work when necessary
•Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and documentation skills
•Tech-savvy with the ability to complete digital reports and logs
Certifications & Requirements
•Must be at least 21 years old
•High school diploma or GED required
•Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
•OSHA 30 Certification – Required
•Competent Person, Confined Space, and Respirable Silica Certifications – Required
•NPDES/GSWCC Blue Card – Required
•First Aid/CPR Certification – Preferred
•Bilingual (Spanish/English) – Preferred but not required

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
